Hello Sunday School Families! On Sunday your kids came home with little offering boxes. In the next couple of weeks our kids will be learning about the devastation that Hurricane Dorian left on the Bahamas. On Oct. 20th--our Faith in Action Sunday--we will be doing a "Hurricane Hike" to raise awareness & funds for natural disaster relief. Our hope is that your families can collect change in the offering boxes to be collected during worship on the 20th. Then, after the Children's Sermon, the kids (and you!) will leave worship early to hike around Amery with signs they make on the 13th, and also collect donations from people we encounter on our hike. So, on Sunday the 20th, please come dressed with your First Lutheran shirts (they may have to be on over sweatshirts/coats!) and bring strollers & wagons for our Hurricane Hike around Amery! Believe it or not, but we are planning for the Christmas Program already! For us to keep planning, we need to know whether or not your child is able to be in the Christmas program. Sunday, Oct. 13th 9:00 Worship with your family 10:15 Sunday School Lesson: Faith in Action--Learn We'll learn a bit about Hurricane Dorian & make signs for our Hurricane Hike the following Sunday Snack Provider: The Jake & Ashley Lee Familiy Plan for 20ish; we have plenty of juice, napkins & cups. Thank you! Reformation Party! October 18th | 5:30-7:30 1st-5th graders are welcome to come to our first Friday Night Party of the year! And this one is Reformation themed! We'll talk about ol' Martin Luther--founder of the Lutheran church--and play some games, too! And dinner will be more than just a Diet of Worms (<--that's a Lutheran joke, right there). Hurricane Hike October 20th | During Worship & Sunday School All church youth will walk around Amery to raise awareness & funds for hurricane relief in the Bahamas. Wear your First Lutheran t-shirts (over your sweatshirts & coats!), bring strollers & wagons, and lace up your walkin' shoes! We'll leave after the children's sermon in worship & hike around town. Sunday schoolers should bring their offering boxes to worship. Feed My Starving Children November 2nd | 9:30-2:45 | 11:00-12:30 shift Join your church family as we volunteer at Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids, MN! Grab a friend, invite a neighbor, and sign up today! We hope to send a group of 25. You must be able to stand for 2 hours. Minimum age is 5; an adult must accompany kids in grades K-2. We will caravan from church at 9:30 and arrive home about 2:45. Bring some money for lunch out after we finish volunteering.
